The sides are not covered but magnetic attachment, feels slimmer. The material feels super amazing and soft to touch. The stand mode is also good.. Hope it will endure at least 3 years. There seems to be a crease on the upper flip but it should fade over time of usage. It holds the pen properly but there is a flex to it.The pen covering flip could be made with more tough material which could reduce the flex
