kickstand series
The Federation of German Industry (BDI) initially set up the award. The iF institution was the brain child of Philip Rosenthal and the Hannover Messegesellschaft. It is through their work that the iF logo, which stands to date, was developed.
The main aim of iF was to recognize well-designed products and the impact design has on brand, users, and society. The association was therefore given the name Good Industrial Forum, with the name Industrie Forum (iF) coming later.
In 2001, iF International Forum Design GmbH took over the operations of the association. It was tasked to organize and host the iF Design Awards. It is through this award ceremony that the association seeks to mediate between business and design.
Since then, iF has been working with top designers from across different nations to further the importance of design. What started with a panel of 70 jurors, now invites more than 100. They judge which designs are worthy and which are not.
The award ceremony has so far attracted some of the top designers such as Paola Picasso, Dieter Rams, and others. Each year, the competition attracts more than 10,000 entrants from over 60 countries and the number is only expected to grow.
Winning this prestigious award is a boon for ESR. By building trust and credibility among its peers and customers, the award will only bolster ESR’s image in the industry.
