Quick Links

  1. The Room Three – $3.99

The Room Three

The Room Three is a sequel to The Room Two, which was Apple Store Best of 2013-2014, which was also a sequel to The Room, the first app that also won the Apple Game of the Year 2012 award. There is a bit of physicality in this game as you would need to steer through many trials designed by craftsmen. The Room is a top-notch design with a simple user interface, intuitive touch controls which produces a tactile experience, making it feel live and real. It also has new environments, and the objects in the rooms can be rotated, zoomed, and examined to discover the secrets it holds.

As no game is complete without excellent audio to go with, the audio in this game makes it feel surreal. The sound effect matches the gameplay creating a never-ending fun and a craving to unlock each Room, which is also built on ending in different ways; that is, you can play the same Room and end with different outcomes based on the artifacts discovered. The hint system has also been improved upon and allows for re-reading the hint. You can also share your progress through the iCloud. You are going to enjoy this game, no doubt, and it will be an excellent experience.

  1. Threes $5.99

Threes

Threes is another beautiful and addictive puzzle game, simple enough and yet hard to master. You tend to improve over time and with a four by four grid. You can manipulate the tiled cards and merge matching pairs, which will then increase their face value and with extra space for other cards to feel when they appear. This new version, v 1.3.24, has also fixed the iPhone X home bar override, and the score sharing crash and does not ask for reviews in the game again. I’ll tell you to dare to try, and you’ll see it because it is friendly and amazing. Its soundtrack is among the top you can find in any puzzle game.

  1. Prune $3.99

 Prune

Prune is Apple Game of the Year 2015. It requires a simple task of cutting and shaping trees in different patterns to reach the sunlight. It does not frustrate the player like the other regular puzzle games, and the fun is still intact. With the beautiful, meditative music and sound, you can relax and unwind after a long day.

  1. FRAMED – $3.99

FRAMED

FRAMED is a multi-award-winning puzzle game that you can see on the app store. It tasks the player to re-arrange animated comic panels to change the outcome of the story. One of its principal features is its design, composed of beautiful arts and animations. The audio track features live jazz performances and modern themes and beats. You will love it because apart from the top-notch design, the narratives of the stories are also impressive. It is designed for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch iOS 7.0 and above.

  1. Monument Valley 2 – $4.99

Monument Valley 2

A sequel to the Apple Game of the Year 2014 and Winner of Apple Design Award 2014, Monument Valley 2 involves manipulating impossible architecture to guide a mother and her child on their way, to discover illusionary pathways and delightful puzzles to learn the secrets of the Sacred Geometry. Its storyline is entirely different from Monument Valley, its predecessor. The puzzles embedded in the gain though illusionary, are meditative. The audio is also melodious, which follows each step of the journey of the mother Ro and her child. It is, however, only compatible with devices running iOS 9 or later.

  1. Shadowmatic $3.99

 Shadowmatic

This game is another awesome imagination-stirring puzzle that won the Apple Design Award and App Store Best of 2015. You have to rotate the objects in the spotlight to find its outlines in the shadow projected about the surrounding environment. The game features 15 rooms, each with its exclusive concept, atmosphere, and music, which is best enjoyed with headphones. The game is available on iTunes and has an Assistant Button in the upper right corner to assist in solving the puzzle by slowly rotating the objects in the right direction.

Note that when you press the assistant button, hint points are used. “Other Worlds” is another chapter of Shadowmatic with over 30 levels in 3 unique thematic environments, which are Ancient Worlds, Music, and Space. You have to purchase the Chapter separately, though. It totals over 130 levels in 15 unique environments, gorgeous graphics, secondary objectives, 3D parallax view, arcade mode, and you can synchronize it with Apple TV. It works on every iOS device separately, but for an optimum experience, try it on the latest gadgets. You will love it because it is art, a beautiful one, as at that, and it offers you the opportunity to look at things much differently than they appear.

  1. Gorogoa $4.99

Gorogoa

Gorogoa, another work of art, is a very much engaging puzzle game with the concept story hand-drawn, making it win the 2018 iPad Game of the Year. It requires iOS 9.0 or later. The game requires the player to arrange and combine the richly illustrated panels to solve the puzzle. While it is simple to play, it is also complicated. The highlight of this game is just the exposure to the beautiful hand-drawn art.

  1. Machinarium $4.99

Machinarium

This puzzle game is beautiful but not too complicated because of the hints and built-in walkthrough that helps you in completing the harder puzzles. There is no dialogue in the game, but it has abundant fun music. It requires iOS 8.0 or later. The storyline is also excellent. It, however, requires patience as the difficulty level can be quite complicated and frustrating; however, it is still a game worth playing as you will enjoy it.

  1. Rules $3.99

Rules

Rules is another excellent, fast-paced game that is not like the regular puzzle games. It tests your memory in that it involves following rules in the order they were given – and now in reverse. In each round, you must clear some tiles with a specific code, after which you progress to another round. In this new round, you have to remove some other tiles, even as you operate under new sets of rules. You must remember those rules – in reverse, to finish the game within the time frame. It has three modes you can choose from – beginner, expert, or timeless. It requires iOS 9.2 to play this game. I love it because it is a clear and engaging memory game with a beautiful and quality design.

  1. ELOH – $2.99

ELOH

ELOH is another puzzle game that will help you relax. It is a musical puzzle game that involves you following the rhythm to help guide the balls into the correct holes as you find the right position for the blocks. The blocks also have creative shapes and forms and move in specific ways. There are no popping ads to disturb you, no time to rush you, just go at your own pace. You learn as you play, and with the soothing music, it helps to lift the pressure off your shoulders. It has 98 musical puzzles to help you build your groove, and you need iOS 8.0 for its installation. I just love this app because of the music and because of it being stressor-free.

Bottom Line

Get ready for a thrilling experience with any of these puzzle games. Yes, at first, they may be puzzling, but isn’t that their purpose in the first place? But when you master any of them, and you know its demands, it becomes a means of relaxation. Although not free, many of them are affordable and you get them at a one-off payment. So, enjoy yourself with any of them!
